Tourism Currents | Becky McCray | Women In Business Radio
How Everyday Small Town America Uses Social Media to Thrive
Today’s guest is Becky McCray. She is a small town business owner with a retail store, a cattle ranch, and a consulting business. Together, Sheila Scarborough and Becky developed Tourism Currents, for tourism professionals to learn social media marketing. Becky doesn’t just talk about business, entrepreneurship, tourism and rural issues; she lives them.
Becky started Small Biz Survival because she is a small town entrepreneur. Becky believes small town entrepreneurs have a lot to teach other businesses. And when local entrepreneurs prosper, they help their small town prosper, too.
Becky and I finally had the opportunity to meet face to face at SXSW. Yes, we were one of those get to know each other via Twitter friends. Here is what I know when I met Becky, you cannot begin to feel her warmth and generosity until you meet her in person. I felt an instant connection with her (As I use to be a small town entrepreneur years ago). She has the ability to talk with you about complex things from technology in the simplest of terms. It’s not everyday we get to meet people we have talked with across the country and that is one of the powers social media has allowed us these past couple years. To reach out , meet online and then meet again (in person) expanding our professional and personal networks like never before in our lifetimes.

How to Interview on Women In Business Radio
Join us as we are taking interview requests. We want to talk with women at various stages of being in business. You do not have to have been in business for ages. We are a multi-generational community that honors and respects we have as much to learn from our Millennial sisters as we have from our Traditionalists.
A fabulous piece of advice a friend shared with me last year was “mentor with someone younger, they will keep you on your toes and you will learn as much from them as they learn from you”. Very wise words indeed.
You are invited to join us every Monday at 2pm ET, 1pm CT, 12pm MT 11am PT as we spotlight women in business each week, discussing what has brought them to where they are today for their business VS just what they do IN their business.
You can listen via your computer, call in on your cell phone (347-857-4551) or subscribe and listen via (below player)
That journey we all make as women in business, growing who are as we also grow our businesses. Recognizing that what we bring to our business from an internal perspective is as key as knowing our marketing strategy or having a good business plan.
Women in Business Radio is the communication Hub for Women in Business all across the world for the forgotten women in business today.
Not everyone will make the front page of Fast Company or Forbes top 100 list in America. Yet, women owned businesses are still the back bone of our economy here in the USA and abroad. Women In Business Radio is here to empower and give women in business a place to grow their reputation as well as awareness of other women they can connect with growing a stronger network.

Where Do You Connect with Women?
Listening to women all year at conferences, networking events and during one on ones a consistent message came through loud and clear…women want a way to have their own “Good Ole Gal Network” they can rely on to grow their businesses through WOM (word of mouth) relationship building networks.
Do you have a central connecting place to send other Women In Business?
When was the last time you thought about collaborating with another woman in business for your team?
Which Women’s Conferences do you attend? ( We are looking to be media partners with conferences world wide and would love your comments below which one’s you found most valuable to your and your business)
